In the thrilling, but a little twisted drama new movie, “Gone Girl,” Nick Dunne played by Ben Affleck comes home on his fifth wedding anniversary to find his wife, Amy, played by Rosamund Pike missing. Starting out as a mystery of a wife gone missing, “Gone Girl” turns out to be so much more.
This film covers a vast array of subjects other than just a wife that goes missing. In the beginning of the movie, the public hates Nick Dunne, thinking he is a scumbag and a lowlife. The main aspect here that the movie examines is how the media is portrayed. In addition to the portrayal of the media, the movie also dives into themes like dishonesty and appearances.
If the movie fails to win an Oscar, one of the main actors certainly deserves one. Whether it’s Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, or Tyler Perry, one of these excellent actors deserves some recognition for their performances in this film. None more than Rosamund Pike who played Amy Dunne. The role of Amy required so much emotional and emphasis that not just any actress could pull it off, but Pike does it with ease. Throughout her role as Amy, there were so many twists and turns. Essentially she had to play three or four different characters.
Ben Affleck definitely should deserve consideration for an Oscar as well, but the actor I really think deserves a nomination for his role in Gone Girl is Neil Patrick Harris. Harris has so much acting experience in so many different roles from Hollywood to Broadway, he could play any role out there and play it well.
